Participate in research to develop original technologies for synthesis of medicinal substances such as betahistine, acenocoumarol, warfarin and others.
With his strong science backgrounds and due to its successful 15-year teaching practice, Dr. Quentin Cole has become one of the best in its field.
Main directions in research
• Synthesis of polycyclic N-and O-containing heterocyclic compounds with fused rings (coumarin derivatives, pyran, pyridine, pyrimidine, 1,6-naphthyridine).
• Synthesis, chemical and pharmacological studies of ether derivatives of 3-amino-1,2-propanediol compounds having a β-adrenoblokirashta activity.
• Polyfunctional enamines and their use for the synthesis of biologically active compounds; joining the coumarin and coumarin derivatives; chemical transformations of the products obtained including cyclisation to polycyclic fused-ring systems.
• Synthesis and study of derivatives of 2-aminotetralin with expected adrenergic activity.
• Isolation, structure and chemical transformations of macrocyclic spermine alkaloids.
• Synthesis of polycyclic systems fused rings by applying a t-amino-effect.
Orientation into medicine
• Preparative obtaining of larger quantities of synthetic and / or natural substances for the pharmacological and / or biological experiments.
• Development of new laboratory schemes and procedures for the synthesis of new or approved drugs.
• Making valuable discoveries in the field of antibiotics and alkaloids
Dr. Cole’s research interests are also in the use of gene/protein as a drug for prevention and treatment of obesity, diabetes, and other diseases.
The emphasis of the researches is on identification of genes that code for a therapeutic protein and on illustration of its mechanisms of action.
Dr. Quentin’s lab works on the forefront area of chemistry, biology and medicine.
It adopts an interdisciplinary approach, spanning and integrating organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, enzymology, cellular biology, biophysics and bioinformatics, and a great variety of techniques are employed.
Dr. Cole and his team focus on the field of catalysis, and their work draws upon and impacts a number of areas of chemistry, including synthetic and mechanistic aspects of organometallic chemistry, organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry.
• Formulation of Patented weight loss Eve Slim Blend™ of the American brand of nutritional supplements Eve Slim®
In the period 2003-2008, Dr. Quentin Cole leads the course in chemical and pharmaceutical technology at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and read individual lectures in organic chemistry.
Participate in research to develop original technologies for synthesis of medicinal substances such as betahistine, acenocoumarol, warfarin and others.
The Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences, part of which is Dr. Cole is an interdisciplinary department with research emphasis in the basic science areas of molecular pharmacology, molecular pharmaceutics, drug discovery and medicinal chemistry.
From 2008 until now, Dr. Quentin Cole has started to read lectures on organic chemistry to students in pharmacy at University of Wisconsin - Madison.
The curriculum of Organic Chemistry for students of Pharmacy is oriented mainly to the presentation of bioactive and medicinal substances.
In 2010, Dr. Quentin Cole was elected head of The Department of Chemistry in one of the leading research universities in USA, University of Wisconsin - Madison.
In fields as diverse as pharmacy, microbiology and exercise physiology, University of Wisconsin researchers investigate urgent health concerns, from cancer and infectious disease to metabolic syndrome, environmental toxins, aging, child obesity and nutrition.
Dr. Quentin Cole takes full reading of the basic course of organic chemistry (with brief interruptions) and test sessions with the students.
Dr. Cole’s main purpose is to teach students to the latest theoretical treatments of organic reactions and to give them the ability to analyse critically physical organic and reaction mechanism problems.
